WANT A STATEMENT MIRROR FOR YOUR BATHROOM? Here’s How I Transformed a Plain White Mirror into a Focal Point

When I was working on the no-renovation makeover of my boring builder-beige powder bath, I knew I wanted a statement mirror for the bathroom that carried the same bold personality as the wallpaper. The mirror and wallpaper needed to walk shoulder to shoulder — a true colorful bathroom accent that would take the space to the next level.

During my search, I came across the Romano Hollywood Regency Mirror by House and Villa and instantly fell in love. It was bold, it made a statement, and it was the perfect color for my bathroom scheme. The only problem? I didn’t have a $900 budget for just the mirror.

No other mirror truly captured my heart after seeing the House and Villa piece. Then I discovered the Bubbles Oval Mirror by TOV Furniture. Its dimensions were perfect, the detailing was just right, and the quirky bubble frame added a playful touch. The only drawback? It came in a white finish.

That’s when the maker in me woke up. I thought, why not give it a little makeover? I’m handy with paint, and I was confident I could transform it into exactly what I envisioned. My husband chose a bold, vibrant shade of pink, and I taped off the glass, covered it with scrap paper, and spray-painted the frame.

The scrap paper is tucked under the frame so the mirror doesn’t get any paint on it.

A few coats later, it looked flawless—so perfect that you’d never guess it had been spray-painted at home. This quick bathroom mirror transformation turned a plain white frame into the focal point bathroom mirror I had been searching for.

What I love most about this trick is that you can spray paint a mirror frame in any color that fits your scheme. And when you’re ready for a change in a few years, you can simply repaint it. This flexibility makes it one of my favorite affordable bathroom design ideas.
